‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

‘Tis So Sweet To Trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word

I woke up pretty early this morning with these words going through my heart and mind.

I decided to get on up and spend some time with the Lord.

I came down stairs and I got out my little song book and read the words to this  precious song.

I allowed the words to soak into my heart.

Then I went to my Bible to see what His word has to say about “trusting”  Him.

Here are a few verses from His word that I would like to share with you this morning.

Job 15:31
Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get nothing in return.

Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!! O for grace to trust you more.

What A Beautiful Rainy Day

I am sure that you have heard the song “Rainy Days and Mondays Get Me Down”?

Well, this morning I am setting on my couch, with my bible in my hand, listening to some christian music, looking out the window, watching the rain pour down.

I have a choice to make today.

I can choose to let this rainy day get me down or I can choose to allow the beauty of the Lord to  shine through this rainy day.

So many times we allow our moods to be controlled by the weather.  Sunshiny-we feel great!!!  Rainy-we feel gloomy.  We are also guilty of letting circumstances in our lives control our moods. When things are going good-we feel great!!! When things are bad-we feel bad!!!

Today I am choosing to not let this rainy day “get me down”.

I am choosing to thank God for this beautiful rainy day. I am choosing to let His son shine on me.

As I am looking out my window, I am reminded that life goes on. No matter what the weather is or what set of circumstances I am facing in life.

Sunshine or rain. Good or bad.

Today I am choosing to concentrate on God and who He is. Sunshine or rain. Good or bad. He is the same!!

Thanking Him for this beautiful rainy day. Trusting that He will be with me through all my “rainy days”.

Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

Where Are Your Thoughts Today?

Where are you thoughts today?

In Hebrews 3:1 we are told to “fix your thoughts on Jesus”.

How much time do we really spend focusing on who He is?  How significant is He to us in our daily life?

I am afraid that so often, we get busy in our fast paced life, that we take very little time “fixing” our thoughts on Him.

He wants us to listen to Him. He wants to talk to us. He has so much to tell us. He wants us to follow in obedience.

How much do we miss of Him each day by allowing our thoughts to be  “fixed” on other things?

Where are you thoughts today?

Take time today and “fix” your thoughts on Him. By doing this, you will get a glimpse of how much He loves you.

Hebrews 3:1
Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.

Why my Heart is Beating

I look forward to getting into my car each morning to see what music that God is going to bless my day with.

I always have my radio tuned to a local christian radio station and have a cd in my player.

My decision to what I listen to is usually made based on my mood.

Some days I just need something quite and calming. Other days I like something upbeat, that gets my heart pumping for the day.

“Jesus Is Life” was the song that I was blessed to hear this morning.

I have included this song in my post today for you to enjoy.

I have also included a passage from His word that confirms the message in the song.  Jesus Is Life!!! He is what makes my heart beat.

What makes your heart beat?

1 John 5

Faith in the Son of God

1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

6This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are three that testify: 8the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Enjoy!!!! And have a great weekend!!!!

Wondering Heart

Do you ever have those days(or maybe I should say weeks) where everything seems to be a priority. Everything and everyone needs your attention? You don’t really know what to do first?  So you wind up doing nothing?  It’s like everything is sort of overwhelming?

That’s the way things are for me right now. Especially at work.

Working  in  retail at this time of year is very demanding. The tasks seem to be too many. On top of all of the normal things going on at this time of the year our company is starting a new scheduling system. This is where the overwhelming part comes in.

I should be concentrating on hiring and doing  seasonal refresher training for our associates, but instead I am having to concentrate on this new scheduling system. Training for this, while trying to keep up with everything else that has to be completed.

This morning I woke up pretty early and couldn’t go back to sleep.  All of the things that I need to do this week were racing through my mind.

When I came down stairs to do my quiet time I plopped down in my BIG chair and just sort of started telling the Lord everything that was going on.

The first words that came to my mind during this time were “Come to me. I will give you rest.”

How many times do we carry  our burdens around day after day, trying to do it all by ourself, our own way?  They are so heavy.  Pulling us down. Distracting us. Causing us to miss Him and what He has planned for us.

He promises us rest. All we have to do is come to Him. Talk to Him, like we would our best friend.  Just simply rest in Him.

And that is  exactly what I did this morning.

I didn’t pick up my Bible. I just sat in my Big  chair and talked to my Lord and Savior. I allowed His love and grace to wash over me. A perfect peace came over my heart and soul. Calming my wondering heart.

An hour later I went on my merry way to work.

Through out my day, when things started getting a little crazy and Satan was whispering negative words in my ear, I allowed myself to go back to my quite time.

I recalled His promise to give me rest—if I would  just bring my burdens to Him.

It was a good day!!!!  Resting In Him!!!!

Heart Verses

Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 62:5
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.

Sometimes my post are pretty serious. So——beginning today— each Friday I am going to do what will be called LIGHT AND LIVELY!!!!!!

The LIGHT will be a little content . The Lively will bring the punch!!!!  Or in other words—-Sometimes it only takes a LITTLE to make a BIG impact.  Something to sink your heart and soul  into  for the weekend.

Taken from a necklace that Dayspring now makes: In God’s heart we are:
Created – “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14
Chosen – “The Lord has chosen you to be His treasured possession.” Deut. 14:2
Celebrated – “He will take great delight in you…He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zeph. 3:17
Cherished – “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3

Ladies- Look at these verses over and over. Let these words sink into your heart and soul

Oh,  how He loves you !!!!!

Reflections in the Mirror

I have a large mirror hanging in my office at work.

Every time I pass it,  I check myself out!!

Sometimes making a comment. Other times walking on by the mirror.

I check my appearance  to make sure that I am presentable to others around me.

This past week as I stood looking in the mirror I begin to look a little deeper. Sometimes I am not to happy with the reflection that I see in the mirror.  There are days that my outer appearance may look okay to me and I may say that I pass the test. But, as I look much deeper I have to ask myself—What are the reflections of my heart??

What are my actions and words saying to those around me?

Do I reflect  “Who He is?” Do they see something different in me?  Do I communicate His love and grace?  Do I show forgiveness and mercy.  Do they see Jesus in me?

I am sad to say that sometimes I cannot always answers these questions with a yes.

My hearts desire is for the answers to these questions to be yes.

I want the whole world to know that “He” is the reason that I live and breathe.

I won’t others to see JESUS  in me.

I want to be a reflection of my sweet Jesus!!  How about you?

Several years ago I used to play this song (attached) on my way to work. Just to remind me of who I needed and wanted to be. I think I will put it back in my car and turn it up every morning!!!

Father, I love you. You are so beautiful to me. Forgive me when I have not been a reflection of you to others around me.  I thank you God for your forgiveness and love. I thank you that you show me mercy and grace. Father, thank you that I can start over anew with you. My hearts desire is to be a reflection of you. In Jesus’  name. Amen
